Godly Legacies That Last…

The Epistles to the Hebrews, gives Christians some instructions that can be applied even today in chapter 12, verse one. “Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw out everything that hinders…”

The most influential legacy that God’s son left us on this side of the earth was HIS son JESUS! He and He alone lived a life that is worthy of honor and praise. I don’t know about you, but I purposely strive to leave legacies that are always changing lives.

During this time of COVID, if you’re remotely leading from your church building, it is essential that we begin to think and step outside of the box from how we “used” to lead. We are no longer confined to the thirty Deacons we might have “Chaired”. The church has left the building and our leadership responsibilities have expanded. The way we led before Covid-19 must now be led through different lenses in the life of the church.  Nothing will change if “YOU” don’t make a change.

During this time of uncertainty, every leader of the church is being challenged in making their own Legacy journey during Covid-19.  I’m a witness that even in the mist of difficulties, we can still leave a legacy of Joy! James 1:2-3 says, “Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.”

Even in the mist of Covid-19, God is still speaking to us. I want to leave a legacy of Hearing and Doing what God says in His WORD. “But be ye doers of the Word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves (James 1:22).”

My hope is that I leave the kind of leadership legacy that people will remember me for my PRESENCE, my ACTIONS, my WORDs, my ATTITUDE, my FAITH, and my LOVE.

What imprints are you making in the life of those you are around?

Serving the Lord with Gladness,

Deacon Terri McFarlane

  1. Praise The Lord!
I woke up bright and earlier to read your blog. It was very encouraging. COV-19 has giving me opportunities to try new things. True, THE CHURCH HAS LEFT THE BUILDING, but WE are the church and must step out of our comfort zone. I don’t know about what legacy I will leave, I just want God to use me for his glory. I thank God that we are on this journey together. My Sister in Christ, you will be remembered for “SERVING THE LORD WITH GLADNESS” and the Innovations that God has given you for his church and his people…..
    God bless you.
